Sun Country Section of the

Professional Golfers' Association of America
Making Golf Better in New Mexico and El Paso County, Texas

The Sun Country Section PGA was established in 1974 as one of the 41 Sections that make up the Professional Golfers Association of America based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida . The Section (the state of New Mexico and El Paso County, Texas) currently has over 200 members and apprentices.
 
The mission of the Sun Country Section PGA is to promote participation and enjoyment in the game of golf for all levels of golfers. The Section is a leader in junior golf with a well-established Junior Tour. Many current PGA professionals have competed on the Sun Country PGA Junior Tour including PGA Tour players, Notah Begay, Brad and Bart Bryant, Kent Jones and the 2002 PGA Champion, Rich Beem. Kristi Albers and Rosie Jones from the LPGA tour also participated on the Sun Country PGA Junior Tour.


In 2009, the Section joined with the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association in purchasing the Sun Country Golf House, which is also home to the Sun Country Junior Golf Foundation and the Rio Grande Golf Course Superintendents' Association. Housing all the major bodies of golf in the area, the Golf House serves as the authority on golf in New Mexico and West Texas. The Sun Country Golf House is located in Rio Rancho, just north of Albuquerque.
